The site sits on a chalk shoulder of the Chilterns National Landscape, and the view is the reason most people book. Fallow deer cross the field at dusk, barn owls hunt the headlands, and red kites are overhead more or less constantly, reintroduced to southern England in these very woods. If you do not see one during your stay, we will refund your pitch fee.

It is a quiet, secure site. Electric gates and CCTV cover the entrance, the drive is concrete all the way in, and there are only ever four other outfits here. Bring the dog, bring the children, bring bicycles.

Three waymarked circular routes start at the CL: a flat half hour round the village common, an hour over the local footpaths and bridleways, and a three-hour walk taking in Turville, Fingest and Cobstone windmill. All three are mapped on Ordnance Survey, and we are an OS Trusted Partner so you can load them straight into the OS app.

Come off the M40 at junction 5, Stokenchurch, and take the road to Ibstone. The other approaches are narrow and steep, and satnavs like sending people down them. In the village, pass the pub on your left, then turn left at the red telephone box four hundred yards further on.

Cholsey Grange is a two-hundred-acre family farm above the Hambleden Valley, and it has been in the same family since 1955, and Ted was born here seven years later. It was a mixed farm of dairy, pigs and seven sheds of chickens through the sixties; crops and two hundred Welsh ewes through the eighties.

For the past twenty or so years we have farmed 50 to 60 acres of arable crops, but following some disastrous harvests and droughts, we are in the process (2027 to 2028) of converting our arable land to grazing for local livestock farmers. In the coming years we hope you will see cattle and sheep coming back onto the farm, but we will have to invest in new fencing and hedging to make this happen.
